Red Plastic Bag is the 2009 Banks LIME Pic-O-De-Crop Calypso Monarch. From a field of 10 calypsonians RPB displayed his lyrical mastery and out-performed the other nine competitors to win a fully loaded 2009 Toyota Corolla and $10,500 in cash. First runner up went to John King winning $15,750.00, while second runner-up went to Blood, who won $11,025.00.

14th Win for Gwyneth! Hidden Beauty from the Gwyneth Squires band Hidden Treasures takes the Queen of the Band title for the first time in four years.
The costume Hidden Beauty worn by Lynn Callendar took the title, making it the 14th time for BAND LEADER. Second place went to De Village Belle from the Ooutraje band The Beginning, worn by Sophia Chase, while third place was taken by Regatta from the Betty West band Barbados Back Then worn by Betty West

Edwin takes 5th Tune of the Crop title!

Edwin Yearwood, lead vocalist with the band krosfya,h took his fifth Tune of the Crop title with 'In De Middle of the Road' during the Grand Kadooment parade on Monday August 3rd, 2009. He amassed 14 points to win the first prize of $7,500.00.
Second place went to Mikey for his song 'I in dat', his seven points winning him $5000.00, while Red Plastic Bag with six points placed third for Something's Happening.

Party Monarch Kings, Tune of the Crop Kings, runners up and new comers all make up the contestants in what is set to be a historic Party Monarch and inaugural SweetSoca Monarch contests.
The history begins with the contests’ staging at the picturesque Farley Hill, St. Peter on July 26, 2009. It continues as the contest will be staged on a Day of National Significance, which will be commemorated with a special multimedia performance.
